Peter is widely known for his innovative approach to problem-solving. As the founder of Trailhead Estate Planning, PLLC, he combines his expertise as an estate planner and special needs/elder law attorney to guide clients through the complex estate planning process.
Born and raised in metro Atlanta, Peter's early interests included music, faith, and the outdoors. He was actively involved in the marching band, served as an acolyte in the Episcopal church, and participated in scouting, earning his Eagle Scout rank and other honors. These experiences shaped his values and passion for helping others.
Peter's educational journey took him to the University of the South, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and met his beloved wife, Kate. He then pursued his law degree at Mercer University, followed by a Master’s of Law (the LL.M.) from Georgetown University, focusing on estate and gift tax. This comprehensive education equipped him to navigate the intricate legal landscape of estate planning.
With a wealth of knowledge and experience, Peter began his practice in Connecticut, where he honed his skills in estate taxation and Medicaid Planning. He later returned to his native South, where he continues to serve clients with compassion, expertise, and a personal touch. At Trailhead Estate Planning, PLLC, Peter's mission is to empower individuals and families to achieve their goals and secure their legacy.
Originally from Atlanta, Philip attended college in Sewanee, Tennessee, at the University of the South where he earned a BA in political science. Like many of his classmates, he eventually turned that background toward law school at Washington & Lee in Lexington, Virginia.
Coming back to Tennessee with his wife, this time moving to Nashville, Philip spent his early years as a lawyer working for the State in education law–first for the Higher Education Commission and then with the State Board of Education. After leaving government service, Philip worked for a large national law firm managing discovery for large, complex, commercial litigation. As Trailhead Estate Planning grew, Peter offered Philip the opportunity to get back to what drew him to law school in the first place—the chance to help real people navigate the difficulties of a complex legal landscape.
When not helping clients, Philip can be found spending time with his family, brewing homemade beer, or playing with any number of wheeled contraptions from classic cars to motorcycles to bicycles.
